Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel, port, or airport in Tangier. You’ll head south to Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue City” nestled in the Rif Mountains. The drive takes you through lush countryside and small villages, offering a glimpse of rural Morocco.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, you’ll have time to explore its charming blue-painted streets, vibrant markets, and relaxed atmosphere. Visit the Kasbah Museum, stroll through the Outa el-Hammam Square, and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You’ll spend the night in a local riad or hotel, enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner.
After breakfast, you’ll depart for Fes, one of Morocco’s most historic cities. Along the way, you’ll stop at Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa. Explore the ancient mosaics, arches, and columns while learning about the site’s fascinating history.
Next, you’ll visit Meknes, another imperial city known for its grand architecture and historic landmarks. Highlights include the Bab Mansour Gate, the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, and the Heri es-Souani Granaries. After exploring Meknes, you’ll continue to Fes, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional riad.
After breakfast, you’ll leave Fes and head toward the Sahara Desert. The drive takes you through the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you’ll pass through Ifrane, and Azrou, where you might spot wild monkeys in the cedar forests.
You’ll continue through Midelt, a town known for its apple orchards, and into the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis filled with palm groves and traditional mud-brick villages. As you approach Merzouga, the landscape will transform into golden sand dunes, marking the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
In Merzouga, you’ll meet your camels for a sunset camel trek into the desert. The camel ride is a peaceful and unforgettable experience, as you make your way through the rolling dunes to your desert camp. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and shown to your comfortable tent, equipped with traditional Berber decor and modern amenities. After a delicious Moroccan dinner, gather around the campfire to enjoy Berber music and stargazing under the vast desert sky.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, a magical moment as the sunlight paints the sand in shades of gold and orange. After breakfast, you’ll have the option to explore the Merzouga area further. You can visit a nomadic family to learn about their traditional way of life, take a 4×4 tour of the desert, or try sandboarding on the dunes.
In the afternoon, you’ll return to your desert camp for another night under the stars. Alternatively, you can choose to spend the night in a hotel in Merzouga if you prefer more comfort. Either way, you’ll enjoy another evening of Berber hospitality, delicious food, and mesmerizing desert views.
After breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to the desert and begin the journey back to Meknes. The drive takes you through Midelt and the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you’ll stop for photos and enjoy the changing landscapes.
You’ll arrive in Meknes in the evening, where you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad. If you missed any highlights on Day 2, you’ll have time to explore the city further.
After breakfast, you’ll depart for Tangier, but not before stopping in Asilah, a charming coastal town known for its whitewashed buildings, vibrant street art, and relaxed atmosphere. Stroll through the medina, visit the Skala de la Ville (a historic fortress with ocean views), and enjoy lunch at a local seafood restaurant.
After exploring Asilah, you’ll continue to Tangier, where your tour concludes. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel, port, or airport, filled with memories of your incredible journey.
