    Itinerary
9 days from Marrakech to desert and Chefchaouen

    Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, your guide will be there to greet you and take you to your riad in the heart of the old medina. Depending on your arrival time, you can start exploring the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where snake charmers, musicians, and food stalls bring the city to life. Take in the sights and sounds of the souks, visit the stunning Koutoubia Mosque, or just relax and prepare for your journey ahead. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

After breakfast, hit the road and cross the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), which offers breathtaking views. Your first major stop is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah famous for its appearances in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Wander through its ancient streets and soak in the atmosphere.

Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” due to its famous film studios. After a quick visit, drive through the Valley of Roses, known for its fragrant rose fields, before reaching the Dades Valley, where stunning rock formations and winding gorges await. Overnight in a charming guesthouse with dinner included.

Day 3:Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

After breakfast, drive through the Dades Gorges, stopping to admire the incredible rock formations. Then, head to the Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon where towering cliffs reach up to 300 meters high—a perfect spot for photos and a short hike.

From here, the landscape transforms as you approach the desert. Arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes, and switch to camels for a magical sunset trek across the golden sands. Your destination is a luxury desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, drum music by the fire, and a night under the stars in your private tent.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt

Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, ride your camel back to the village and freshen up before continuing your journey.

Stop at Rissani, a historic town famous for its authentic souk and rich Saharan history. Then, drive through the Ziz Valley, where lush palm groves contrast with the surrounding desert. Pass through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Midelt, a peaceful town known for its apple orchards. Enjoy dinner and overnight in Midelt.

Day 5: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

Continue your journey north through the Cedar Forests of Azrou, where you can spot Barbary macaque monkeys. Stop in Ifrane, a charming town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its alpine-style houses and clean streets.

By the afternoon, arrive in Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check into your riad and relax before exploring the city the next day.

Day 6: Full-Day Guided Tour of Fes

Fes is a city of history and culture, and today you’ll dive deep into its wonders with a local guide. Explore the Fes el-Bali medina, one of the world’s largest and most fascinating old towns. Highlights include:

    • Al Quaraouiyine University, the world’s oldest university
    • Bou Inania Madrasa, a stunning example of Moroccan architecture
    • The famous Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed using ancient methods
    • The Royal Palace Gates and the historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah)

After a full day of sightseeing, relax in your riad and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

    Day 7: Fes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, depart for Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco. Walk through ancient streets, admire the beautiful mosaics, and imagine life here during Roman times.

Continue to Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City nestled in the Rif Mountains. This picturesque town is known for its blue-washed streets, peaceful vibe, and stunning mountain backdrop. Spend the evening exploring its charming medina, visiting Outa el-Hammam Square, or enjoying a meal with a view. Overnight in a riad.

    Day 8: Chefchaouen – Rif Mountains – Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech

Enjoy a relaxing morning wandering through the quiet blue streets of Chefchaouen. Take in the unique atmosphere, browse local handicrafts, or hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views over the town.

Begin the long but scenic drive back to Marrakech, passing through the Rif Mountains and Rabat, visit the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the Hassan Tower. Explore the Hassan 2 Mosque in Casablanca, then continue to Marrakech.

Arrive in the evening and check into your riad for your last night in Morocco.

    Day 9: Departure from Marrakech

Depending on your flight time, enjoy a final stroll through the medina, do some last-minute shopping, or visit Majorelle Garden before your driver transfers you to the airport. Safe travels and thank you for visiting Morocco!
